Students from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) main campus in Nairobi staged a demonstration after the brutal killing of their colleague.

Tabitha Muthoni Mwangi, a First Year Student, was stabbed in the neck during a robbery leading to her death.

JKUAT students union boss Ibrahim Boru lamented the killing, urging the area security forces to hasten the investigations and bring Tabitha’s killers to book.

His sentiments were echoed by the student union Secretary General Alexander Oucha who also condemned the incident and cited two other similar cases that are apparently yet to be resolved.

Citizen TV raids Weru TV as SK Macharia moves to weaken fast growing Meru based TV

It seems Citizen TV which commands majority viewership across the country is no longer at ease

The SK Macharia owned TV station has now turned it’s missiles towards Meru based TV station, Weru TV in a bid to diminish the command by the fast growing TV station, owned by a former employee of Royal Media Services.

Citizen TV has now poached three of Weru TV’s presenters Eucabeth Mukami, Charity Kamanku and Agnes Kathure. The three are now set to shift base from Meru to Nairobi as Citizen TV scales up it’s war against Weru TV.

Reports however indicate the three former Weru TV journalists acted unprofessionally by absconding duty at Weru TV during the days they rushed to Nairobi to negotiate for their packages with Citizen TV.

Sources say the three claimed they couldn’t show up at work only to be spotted at Citizen TV negotiating for their exit at WERU TV.

According to sources at Weru TV CEO John Marete dismissed the three for absconding duty leading to loss of revenue by the TV station after the presenters failed to show up on air.

Several media houses have started poaching talented journalists from Weru TV after latest reports by pollsters indicated that the Meru based TV is the leading TV station in the Meru region. Last year KTN also poached Edwin Gitonga from Weru TV.

Weru TV which has been in operation since December, 2016, is a professional run media company with high skilled professionals led by CEO John Marete who is a former production Manager at Citizen TV. The company also runs Weru FM which went on air early last year.

Hard times ahead as vehicles prices expected to double

The Kenya Auto Bazaar Association (KABA) now wants the government to do away with the new regulations on the age limit of vehicles stating that this would drive up the prices of vehicles imported into the country by up to 100%.

The auto bazaar association Chairman John Kipchumba stated that reducing the age of all used imported cars from the current 8 years to 5 years by 2019, then to 3 years by 2021, is not the right policy for the country.

Kipchumba further stated that the association is willing to entirely stop the importation of commercial vehicles on condition that 100% of the vehicles are assembled locally and 40% of the components be manufactured locally as well.

Individuals, who were out scouring for vehicles to buy at the Sunday auto auction along Ngong Road, were also opposed to the new regulations stating that it would push vehicles out of their price range.

KABA says although the Draft National Automotive Policy is yet to be implemented, some of its recommendations are already exposing the widespread incompetence and lack of know how in the local vehicle assembly sector.

With the local assemblers completely unable to assemble the BRT buses according to the required specifications, the Ministry of Transport has been forced to import the buses from South Africa.

The alleged murder of businesswoman Mary Wambui by her husband Joseph Kori and girlfriend Judy Wangui continues to baffle many Kenyans.

Kenyan Media house K24TV obtained CCTv footage and details of the investigations and put together a sequence of what could have happened on the day of the murder.

Police sources say the footage incriminates Judy Wangui, one of the murder suspects.

Pictures taken just hours before the murder paint a very cordial relationship between the accused and the late Mary Wambui, raising the question; What could have made Wangui turn on Wambui?

The Police are said to have already changed their tone on Kori as it is now emerging that he might not have had prior knowledge of the murder nor took part in it’s planning and ultimate execution.

Video: I lost my virginity to rape and slept with over 100 men former UoN student reveals

“I lost my virginity to rape,” an emotional Catherine revealed.
It was an emotional moment in the hot 96 studios when a former University of Nairobi student revealed that she had slept with over 100 men and lost her virginity in a rape scenario.

The 32 year old confessed trying to commit suicide 5 times after being raped by a colleague during her second year at the final semester.

The whole incident set her off on a downward spiral as she felt that she had been robbed off a gift that she had saved for marriage.

Catherine shared details of her hedonistic lifestyle and admitted to sleeping with more than 100 men and at times she would sleep with one or two men per day. “In a week I only spent 2-3 nights in my campus room. I was ‘a don’t care’, I never gave a damn… I never gave a damn as I was like what’s there in life that I have never seen?”

She continued trading sex for money as in her mind she preferred contracting HIV/AIDS from selling her body rather than from someone forcing themselves onto her.

“I felt I would rather be positive when someone has paid me than when someone has forced himself on me,” she said.
Apart from working as a twilight girl, Catherine also confessed that she got into the pornographic industry but became a laughing stock after her schoolmates got their hands on her blue videos. After a particularly humiliating incident in class a week after her pornographic video was circulated in the school, she walked out of class and jumped into traffic hoping to be hit by oncoming cars and die. This was one just one of her 5 suicide attempts.

Catherine believes that she embarked on this dangerous journey because she didn’t seek help after getting raped, the first time by her colleague and the second time by their farm hand who sneaked into their bathroom while she was showering. “I never spoke and never sought help,” Catherine said explaining why her life turned out the way it did.
HERE IS THE VIDEO

Lucky for her, she didn’t contract HIV/AIDS and has now dedicated her life to people like her who have suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts.

Uniformed officers from the Kisii County Enforcement team watched as the street children and nurses clashed to what the street children said they did not want to see demonstrations in the county.
The Union Kisii branch officials; Secretary General Eric Bosire and Chairman Fredrick Oigo told the media that they had served relevant County offices on their ongoing strike.

Mr Oigo said their efforts to meet the area Governor James Ongwae over the stalemate was yet to bear any fruit.

In the 2017 agreement, nurses were to receive in an increment of Uniform allowance of Sh15,000 I 2018/19, Sh20,000 in 2019/20 and Sh25,000 2020/21; Sh5,000 increment per year.
They were to receive nursing service allowance of Sh23, 000 in 2018/19, Sh26, 500 in 2019/20 and Sh30, 000 in 2020/21. Sh3, 000, Sh3, 500 and Sh3, 500 in the first second and third years.
Fearing for their safety, the nurses walked to Kisii Police Station demanding security to help them counter the 20 street children.
They were turned away on the excuse there were not enough police officers at the station.
Last week, members of the union could not hold any demonstration in the county owing to sharp divisions between their officials and members

KMPDB confirms a breast surgery gone wrong led to death of June Wanza

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB) has released a report on the circumstances that led to the death of June Wanza Mulupi who grabbed media headlines after her death was reported to have been caused by a botched breast enlargement surgery.

The professional body found that June was not properly handled and was operated on by a trainee doctor who was not authorized to carry out any medical procedures without supervision.

The 35-year old mother of three walked into Surgeoderm Healthcare Clinic Limited in what she believed to be a simple operation to enlarge and firm up her breasts.

Three doctors were supposed to handle the operation, the lead surgeon Prof Stanley Ominde Khainga, an anaesthetist Dr Evans Charana, and Dr Martin Ajujo.

According to KMPDB, Dr Ajujo was a trainee surgeon who was under the supervision of Prof Khainga while Dr Charana lacked a practicing license from the body that is legally mandated to licence medical practitioners.

Dr Ajujo confessed to KMPDB that he had started the operation without his supervisor, Prof Khainga, being present as he was reportedly running late.

The trainee had undertaken about 25 percent of the procedure when his supervisor arrived and completed the surgery.

A day later, the patient’s husband, Mulupi, visited the clinic to pick up his wife but June complained she was in a lot of pain.

By evening, the situation had gone worse and the patient had to be rushed to the Nairobi Hospital where she was placed at the High Dependency Unit. She died a few hours later on June 7.

The autopsy shows that her intestines were accidentally slit, causing waste to flow, and subsequently caused blood infection that killed her.

The clinic’s license was also said to have expired by the time Mulupi was first seen in March. However, by the time of the fateful surgery in June, the clinic had already renewed its license which they received on April 5.

KMPDB has ordered a tribunal to carry out a full inquiry on the conduct of the clinic and the three doctors involved in June’s death.

What these two Jubilee governors did to street children will shock you

By Jerome O

LEE KINYANJUI, the Nakuru governor, rumored to be retired president Moi’s son, on the away goal rule, took a walk in the streets of his towns and noticed the presence of strange creatures

He decided they were closer to wild animals than human beings, and drove them inside one of the many caged “kanju” trucks, to Torongo forest in Baringo, so that they can complete their lives in the jungle, under the ministry of culture and tourism

Having been born in opulence, the good governor dindt know that poverty can make a human being look wild and those he mistook for wild animals, were in real sense, human beings

Someome who hasn’t eaten for a few days and hasn’t taken a shower since birth and lives in a garbage bin, looks more of a baboon that a human being and that is how good Lee decided their belong to the forest and not at town

That is how the street boys ended up spending a night in the cold,in the middle of a forest, away from the “comfort” of the pavements they call home

Mandago, the combative Uasin Gishu governor, who is also a war monger, began it all. A few years ago, he crammed his in a mobile cage, also called “mariamu” and drove them to Busia. He throughly inspected them and concluded that of all the other 46 counties, these street families looked like they could be from Busia

Ojaamong’ aslo “hapendi mchezo” loaded the boys in a truck and returned them to the sender, saying they belonged to Uasin Gishu and the governor of the former county should learn to solve his problems and not exporting them to other counties

That is how serious the county goverments has engaged it’s capacity, to rid the towns of the street delinquency

I wish we could also pack the 350 urchins in parkaiment and export them Guantanamo or wherever. They are our biggest problem

Good morning my fellow Southerners!!

Banks to be probed on Dusit D2 attack, charges to be considered against officials

The team of investigators are not done with establishing how the DusitD2 attack was planned and executed. The office of Director of Criminal Investigation is covering tracks of how the attackers got facilitated financial until the carried out the deadly attack.

DCI George Kinoti is considering charges against officials from the CBK Supervision Department, the Financial Reporting Center, Safaricom’s M-Pesa Supervision Department and officials from Standard Chartered Bank, Kenya Commercial Bank, Equity Bank, Diamond Trust Bank and Cooperative Bank.

Detectives are investigating how Sh9 million used to finance the Dusit terror attack was sent through the M-Pesa network.
The Anti-Terror Police Unit now has the Central Bank of Kenya, the Financial Reporting Center, Diamond Trust Bank and Safaricom on the radar over the Dusit attack on January 15 that claimed 21 lives.

The specific charges will be determined by the evidence and culpability at each institution, police investigating officers said.

“We will go for each and every person from the banking sector to the mobile money transfer networks that were lax in their work,” Kinoti told the said.

He did not state how soon the arrests would be made and charges filed, though highly placed sources said the investigations were complete and the files have been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji for approval.

“We don’t think we have done anything wrong. People use Mpesa to bring money into the country and withdraw it using standard procedures,” said Bob Collymore, CEO of Safaricom, yesterday. He confirmed that a Safaricom team had met the DCI last week to explain Mpesa procedures.

“Suspicious transactions are reported to the Financial Reporting Centre. If we see irregular transactions from certain parts of the country or world, we will file a Suspicious Transaction Report. We did file STRs on some of the Dusit transfers. We also terminated their Mpesa tills before the Dusit attack,” he said.

Initial investigations had revealed that one of the terror suspects, Hassan Nur, received Sh9 million from South Africa through M-Pesa over three months. The cash was then sent to Somalia where al Shabaab is based.

Nur had 52 M-Pesa agent accounts with 47 of them were registered between October and December last year, each with a SIM card. He used different IDs to register the SIM cards.
The transactions were made at DTB Eastleigh branch. Branch manager Sophia Mbogo has already been arrested by the Antiterror

Police Unit after she failed to report suspicious transactions after Nur withdrew the cash.

DCI believes the money transfer systems and the banks run between them failed to raise sufficient alarm over the funds suspected to have financed the terror attack.
Kenya’s world-famous mobile money is powered by mobile money networks, banks and hundreds of thousands of agents all around the country.

Know-Your-Customer prudential guidelines are supposed to be employed at every stage by every link in the chain.

Safaricom is required to vet all huge transactions known as super agents, while banks are also bound by the same regulations of know their customers.

We support the handshake but lets not destroy the earlier one: Gov.Mandago

Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has reaffirmed his support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) that was occasioned by the March 9th handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

In a video shared on Facebook of Mandago speaking in an event in Samburu, he said even as the nation focuses on building new bridges, existing ones should not be destroyed.

According to the county boss who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, the initiative should add more value to the nation’s unity.

“If as Kenyans we truly agreed to unite, then we should work together. How comes a leader goes to a place to proclaim he was sent by somebody to oppose somebody and we claim there is a handshake?” Mandago asked in apparent reference to recent Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s remarks.

Mandago further cautioned politicians against roaming around the country while cheating Kenyans and attacking other leaders in an attempt to tarnish their image.

Joho while in Vihiga about a fortnght ago claimed that Raila, his party leader, had sent him to fight DP Ruto, sentiments that have sparked political confrontations.

DP Ruto pressed hard on corruption on BBC, caught red handed live on TV

DP RUTO PRESSED HARD ON CORRUPTION ON BBC Hard Talk: In the just-concluded interview, HT moderator Stephen Sackur failed to get an answer on numerous corruption allegations. The DP dodged repeatedly but it didn’t work. He was asked if he had done the required lifestyle audit, and twice he said that the MEDIA had done it.

Finally Ruto said he himself had also filed his life style audit, so he was asked what net worth he declared. The DP refused to give that figure, so Sackur repeated the question FOUR times, but the DP kept telling Sackur to do his home work and get the figure himself from the Speaker’s office.

And then the DP dumbfounded Sackur by saying he he would file his audit soon – but you said you had filed it already, Sackur said. Watch it all yourself.

‘Fraudsters sold Weston hotel land to me ,I did not grab’- DP Ruto lies to BBC

Deputy president William Ruto has today confirmed that he acquired the weston hotel land illegally claiming that he did’t know of its origin.

The deputy president who was speaking to bbc said that the narrative has been made for Kenyans to believe he stole half of Nairobi county by his political rivals.
Mr Ruto, however, says he is doing everything possible to ensure that the illegalities are corrected.

Ruto had in the past denied owning the langata road hotel which sits on 0.7 acres piece of land.

“Not bought illegally. In fact, for the record, the National Land Commission has made a finding that Weston was an innocent purchaser for value from somebody who got it illegally, and preparations have been made constitutionally to restore that land to Kenya Civil Aviation Authority by demanding that those who sold the land to us must pay,” said the Deputy President.

According to KCAA’s legal services manager, Cyril Wayong’o, the land where Weston Hotel sits on, originally belonged to the East Africa Community which collapsed in 1977.
Lawyer Ahmed Abdullahi who represents the DP, told the national land commissioners that Mr Ruto acquired the land in 2007 for Ksh.10 million from Priority Management Ltd and Monene Investments Limited.

NLC, in its recommendations, said they could not verify if the process of land allocation was illegal as none of the parties had presented evidence before it.

NLC, however, went ahead, to confirm that the controversial Weston land belonged to KCAA.

Ruto fails to honor promise to DusitD2 terror attack survivors

$

Critics have fallen on the second man in command to what they say is giving empty promises and politicking at wrong times after he failed in paying the bills for terror attack victims as he had promised during his visit to the victims at different hospitals.
Emmanuel Omalla was one of the victims who survived the DusitD2 Hotel terror attack – He was shot seven times on his stomach, back and foot after which he pretended to be dead – He was rescued moments later and rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital – DP Ruto promised to take care of his hospital bill together with other victims – Omollo was, however, detained for 10 days after discharge when Ruto failed to keep his promise.

A majority of Kenyans seem to have moved on since the al-Shabaab militants descended on DusitD2 Hotel at 14 Riverside in Westlands, Nairobi, killing 21 people on the spot, but the same cannot be said about the victims of the terror strike. Emmanuel Omalla, one of the victims who sustained injuries during the January 15, 2019, DusitD2 assault, has not been able to move on with his life.

The acts of valour and patriotism that helped Kenyans conquer terrorists Reports emerged on Monday, February 11, indicating Omalla who narrowly survived the terror strike after he was shot seven times on the stomach, back and foot and left to die, was detained at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for 10 days after discharge because of a huge bill and after the government failed to keep its promise.

According to Omalla who works as a delivery person, Deputy President William Ruto came to see them during which he said the government would shoulder the burden of paying hospital bills. Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Sicily Kariuki and her Education counterpart Amina Mohamed also showed up at the hospital a day after Ruto left and gave assurance the government would foot the medical bills.

I understands Omalla’a bill at KNH had accumulated to over KSh 100,000, way beyond what his family could raise. He was only discharged from the hospital after he reportedly reached an agreement with KNH to pay KSh 3,000 every month until the bill is settled. Interestingly, KNH and other hospitals had also allegedly agreed to pay bills for the victims who did not have insurance, but clearly that never happened.

Omalla was one of the 28 victims of the 14 Riverside terror strike who suffered injuries but were rescued and admitted to various hospitals in Nairobi. President Uhuru Kenyatta on January 16, 2019, confirmed all the terrorists who laid siege to the DusitD2 complex were eliminated. Uhuru said more than 700 civilians were safely evacuated from the seven-storey building. The president and several other leaders commended the multi-agency security team for promptly neutralising all the criminals. The 21 deceased victims of the attack have since been buried.
Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja paid his bill after his story was aired on citizen television.

Taxi drivers cry foul as APP (Mondo) runs away with their millions to Dubai

Mondo Ride management has shutdown its kenyan services and ran away with millions of Shillings belonging to taxi drivers.

The providers originated from the Middle East but had their headquarters in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. Much as Uber was welcomed with open arms way back in 2016 and Taxify in 2017, people expected Mondo Ride to receive a similar treatment and alter the way things work here with a sounding impact to the transport sector but the activities seemed more than meets the eye.
Drivers have complained after they realized their service providers were not paying thereby organising a strike before being fed with information that the suppliers had fled the country.

“Buda kuna taxi application imeanguka. Jana imeenda na doh za madere. Like me nawadai 100k ya one month. Inafanyanga corporate business na cash. Iko kama uber so since DEC haijalipa watu. Companies zimewalipa wakahepa na do. Mdosi wao ameenda Dubai. Don’t mention my name.

They have corporates like equity bank, Cyton investments, dstv ,pkf, Nairobi hospital ,liquid telecoms etc. They closed shop when they realised drivers had formed group whatssap and were to match to their offices today. Nataka hii kitu imulikwe.” a mondo driver commented
